Description
I had to come back to this spot what felt like 100 times over the last two years to capture this perfect shot. Every time I traveled to Beaver Lake the lilies were either closing for the night, bathed in overly harsh daylight, or too far away to get a steady shot without getting in the water. But I kept coming back over and over, determined to capture the perfect image. It wasn't until I spotted the perfect flower in the wrong light, that I finally mustered up the courage to make the long journey there before the morning light. When I got there at 5:30 am the next day, everything lined up. The sun rose with a soft glow over the lake, illuminating the opening flowers with gorgeous soft light. I shot an entire roll of HP5, capturing as many flowers as possible. But the one that turned out best was exactly that one I'd spotted the night before.
